John has always painted ships, from huge 19th Century Windjammers to striking Egyptian Dhows.
In each painting he aims to capture the freedom, craftsmanship and the elements that surround every ship at sea.
Having
served over twenty years on British, Australian and American ships, and
with the R.A.F. flying boats in the Far East, John knows the sea
intimately.
Whilst living in the Languedoc the unique quality of the local sailing craft have become a favourite theme.
His translucent watercolours capture the essence of his subjects.
